Frequently Asked Questions
Where did you learn to do this? I taught myself how to botanical print from the internet and learnt about natural dyes from reading a lot of books that I initially borrowed from the library. I first learnt to felt from taking a 2 day workshop with Wendy Bailye. Over the past few years I have taken many workshops with great dye and felt teachers.
Do natural dyes last? Yes, absolutely! When treated properly natural dyes can rival synthetic dyes, remember that all dyes prior to 1856 were botanical dyes. All extant examples of coloured cloth that predate 1856 in Museums are dyed using plants. Proper use of mordants, known dyestuff and care of cloth all make for long lasting colours.
How do I care for my naturally dyed items? Please hand wash with a plant based detergent in cool water, dry in the shade. Wash your items only when needed, do not soak and mend when needed. All of my work is compostable at the end of their life.
Do you teach workshops? Yes, I do! Head to the top of the page and click in Workshops to find out more
Do you take commissions? Yes, if the project is right for me and fits with my schedule
What if my piece has faded? If you’re interested in redyeing it yourself I am happy to walk you through that process otherwise I am happy to give your item another pass through the dye pot and get it back to you new and fresh.
What is your returns policy? If a change of mind occurs you have 14 days from the date of purchase to receive a full refund if item has not been worn. After 14 days a store credit will be offered - return post for both options to be covered by buyer.
