I really love to create collaborative works with other sustainable artists, if you can imagine a project together please don’t hesitate to get in touch!

Collaborative project between Norton Fredericks and Kerri Hollingsworth, ‘Regeneration’ 2022.

This work has been displayed in Kerri’s exhibition ‘Spaces in Between’ 2022, Burrinja Cultural Centre, Upwey Victoria

‘Regeneration’ was born out of a conversation around the recent bushfires but also the devastating Ash Wednesday fires of 1983 with a fence post that had been burnt in those fires serving as an inspiration point.

Norton contributed the handspun naturally dyed yarns, botanically printed nuno felt and created the felt piece that resembles tree bark for the project while Kerri wove these fibres so beautifully to tell the story of bush regeneration after fire.

Kerri used her traditional upholstery skills to recover a vintage 1960’s chair with modern hemp material and her father created chair legs from an old fence post.

It was really wonderful working collaboratively on this beautiful project with Chris, Otis and Dayan. I first met Chris and Otis as they were catering the First Nations Artist Camp and knew immediately that Chris and I could create something wonderful together. We went up the Sunshine Coast with Dayan to visit Aunty Terri’s native bush food farm and learnt all about her social justice enterprise while collecting fruits and foraging for leaves to dye with. All the silk gifts and table runners are dyed with Australian natives from along the South East Queensland coastline.
